Though it was never my intention to run any nightlife posts (and is still not), I am moved to posting by what I saw and experienced last night.  Major props to Vance, Mey and Michael for the Monday night party upstairs at Le Royale!  Last night was an amazing night, full of great energy, awesome music and a super fun crowd.

Definitely youthful, with its share of FIT students and male models, there was not a whit of the pretentiousness, self-consciousness, brooding and sloppiness prevalent at some of other venues which also attract this crowd.  (And let’s be clear, I enjoy those other venues from time to time too).  It was just the right mix, in just the right space, with the DJ’s eclectic mix putting all other DJ’s claiming that overused word to shame.

This was pure let your hair and your guard down and have fun.

Being as jaded as I am about NY nightlife, it was impressive to see what these three have achieved with this weekly event.  I have watched them grow it since before Thanksgiving entirely on word of mouth, and I remember the early days when there were not a whole lot of people there.

I really feel that they have something here - so much that I joked they should name the party Fuck Butter!  (Simmer down, no disrespect intended - the name acknowledges Richie and Scott’s long-term Monday mainstay status - respect enough, it’s just not my scene).

As with everything else, it’s not going to be for everyone - but it’s most definitely a great time!
